Saturday, October 3rd - A night at the opera

Our past week was pretty quiet. Jacqui got sick last Friday afternoon and she didn't start feeling better until about midweek. So obviously, we didn't do much. Even this past weekend was quiet. We didn't do anything on Friday and went to school for a few hours on Saturday afternoon.

We went to the opera on Saturday night, at the Royal Opera House Muscat. It is such a nice place; it's always nice to go there for an evening. Jacqui and I had never been to an opera before. We went to see Turandot, by Puccini. We had read up about the story a bit before and went to the pre-performance talk prior to the show. We also had the words in english during to show, as it was sang in Italian (but even then, I'm not sure you would understand even if it was sang in a language that you speak!); so that helped a lot to follow the plot of the story. The music was awesome and the decor was very well done too, as were the costumes. All in all, it was a very positive experience, and we will probably see more operas this year.

Jacqui took this with her phone - such a rebel!!
