April 15 - 18: Xi'an - the Terracotta Army

We arrived in Xi'an on Sunday (April 15th), mid-afternoon and went for a walk at night inside the City Walls. We found a micro brewery, with someone that spoke English, which was very nice! Afterwards, we walked back to our hotel and saw so many people dancing in public squares, or in front of malls; anywhere where you have enough space to put X number of persons. They were line dancing, ballroom dancing and some were doing traditional dancing. It was pretty cool to see.

On Monday, we walked again in the inner city. Finding a place to eat was quite a challenge; menus were only in chinese, with no pictures, and since practically no one spoke English, we didn't have a clue of what it said! We ended up in a restaurant in a hotel! From there, we took a little cab to the Giant Wild Goose Pagoda - a historical building located in a beautiful park.

On Tuesday, we went to see the Terracotta Army. It was quite impressive! We walked on top of the  City Walls at night (had a tough time finding the entrance!) and stopped for drinks in a very beautiful outdoor restaurant! Weather was so nice: high teens, low twenties, no humidity - Jacqui was in heaven!

Seats while you wait for your boarding pass!! We ended up being in first class from Beijing to Xi'an!

Part of the Terracotta Army - these are all life size statues!

A horses' ass picture??

They are still working on excavating and rebuilding soldiers and horses

A new warrior??

I think I'm a better tourist than warrior!
