Monday, January 6th - Jacqui's back at work - part 2

It rained all day yesterday and all night, and it was still coming down this morning. My school isn't built to absorb so much water, so while my KW-Cambridge collaegues were enjoying their first snow day of 2014, I was enjoying my first ever rain day. The school decided to send the kids back home at 9am, as we had water leaking through the ceiling of our portables, some walls were soaked and some floors were dangerously wet. They even told the kids to stay home tomorrow, to give the place a chance to dry up and for maintenance do to some much needed repairs. It was great, as I had almost the whole day to work on my exams.

Jacqui went to work for a second day. Only thing is, she went to a different school than yesterday! She had been offered a job as an ESL teacher at Gulf English School. The salary is less than what is offered at the American Academy for Girls (we still haven't seen what she would have made there), but the work is also a lot less. She doesn't have her own classroom but instead goes from class to class (4-5 year olds) to work with small groups of students who are struggling in english. No prep, no marking, no report card, no parents to deal with, no class to decorate, ... pretty nice job actually. Like I mentionned, the pay is less but it's pretty much stress free! She seemed very happy when she got back. We went out for dinner and had a quiet evening afterwards.

More pictures of the safari.
