Tuesday, December 31st - Going to the Ngorongoro Crater

We all got up early, as in 6am, to go see the big cats in action. They seem to be more active early in the morning, as opposed to lying down and sleeping all day. We woke up early enough to see the sun rise on the Serengeti; it was quite beautiful.
Beautiful sky before sunrise
It's an early morning in the valley
"The circle of life" starting!
It should be a nice day

We drove out to the far-end of the Serengeti, away from the busy tourist places, and we saw a lot of lions. It was great.

Stay in the car!

Here's your king of the animal kingdom, who by the way lives in the savannah and not the jungle
After an all morning drive, we went back to camp for lunch and to pack up our stuff so we could go on a 5 hour drive that would take us on the rim of the Ngorongoro crater, where we celebrated New Year's Eve. We had talked about staying up to ring in the New Year, but changed our plans a bit (getting up at 6am, spending all day outside and looking at a 4h45am wake up time will do that to you). So at 9 pm, we toasted to a New Year, along with everyone in Bangladesh and the other countries in that time zone! Happy New Year Bangladesh! We'll think of our Canadian friends in the morning, when it's midnight at home!
Some kind of crane (I think)
